SATELLITE PICTURE OF RADLEY LAKES

See how close the River Thames is to the Radley Ashfill Site.  Oxfordshire County Council thought that Lakes H and I, the dark area where the the Tele Atlas wording is, was not sufficiently in the flood plain to be of concern!  The Environment Agency recommended against filling Lakes H and I but Oxford County Council ignored their advice, insisting on flood relief measures as part of the consent.  These proved to be totally inadequate in 2003 and meanwhile we are being threatened with yet more of the flood plain being compromised by the big blue area next to where it says "Thrupp Road"  This is what NPower call Lakes E and F.  We call them Thrupp Lake and The Bullfield Lake, although Thrupp Lake has recently got the new title of  Lake £.

The low level aerial pictures on the Radley Village Website can be accessed by clicking the picture above.  This satellite image was taken in around 2002.
