Radley
Village Hall was packed with an assortment of unusual and valuable
items which were quickly snapped up by eager bargain hunters who
know when they are on to a good thing! The generosity of the
people who put items up for sale and then donated all of the proceeds
meant that the Campaign Chest was increased by a further sum to
go towards the legal fees which have been incurred by the Town Green
Process and the legal challenge being mounted by Save Radley Lakes
against Oxfordshire County Council to ensure that due process is
followed.
A child brought their
man-sized teddy bear for sale to help the cause. Another person
donated Royal Doulton China. The teas and refreshments were to the
usual high standard which has become the SRL Trade mark and the
kitchen did a roaring trade as people waited for the lots to come
under the Auctioneer's hammer. Mr Michael Harrison who had
officiated at the Radley Fete and Flower Show Auction came with
his considerable expertise to persuade the participants to part
with as much money as possible and he did this very successfully.
