Northmoor Trust 2nd working Party at Thrupp Lake 23rd April 2010 |

A lovely sunny day saw a number of volunteers at Thrupp Lake to meet Melati Granucci to carry on with the site tidying and take note of site damage. For instance, the fence along the BOAT landed up in Tuckwells pond - it was recovered by Tuckwells staff and returned to Sandles back yard to be refitted at a later date. The other half of the fence is still in Thrupp Lake because it was not able to be recovered without proper equipment. The working party identified potential sites for bird hides in company with Northmoor Trust ornithologist Mike Rogers. As work started on removing the fence from the old tennis court, Evan Harris arrived with his LibDem entourage. Always keen for a photo, several were taken, which can be seen on the news page on the Radley Village Website. Just as things were getting underway, a birds' nest was discovered so work was stopped. The working party moved to another part of the site, and started clearing brambles only to find another birds nest, freshly made, and this stopped work here too. After lunch, a greylag goose and his mate arrived with their ten goslings. The hoovered up the crumbs left from lunch and then took off into the water. A delightful sight and an end to a glorious day in the sunshine with some companiable and entertaining volunteers. Date of next working party Friday 28th May 2010 Friday 16th July 2010 Friday 27th August 2010 Friday 8th October 2010 Friday 19th November 2010
